Murphy Running For AG

patrick_murphyFormer Congressman Patrick Murphy (pictured here) says running for Attorney General of Pennsylvania is a logical next step for him because he has stood up for law and order his entire adult life. “In the Army I prosecuted terrorists who tried to kill American soldiers, I’ve tried criminals in federal and military courts who broke the law, and I’ve taught Constitutional Law at West Point, and in Congress I did all I could to put more cops on the street.”

He says his work in support of law enforcement also includes the Danny Faulkner Bill.

“Danny Faulkner was a Philadelphia police officer who was murdered in the line of duty.  My dad served with him and so did my uncle, and I passed the Danny Faulkner Bill which will give federal scholarships to the children of fallen cops or firefighters who were killed in the line of duty.”

Murphy’s father was a sergeant in the Philadelphia Police Department and his uncle was an inspector.  He is a Democrat who lost his Eighth District seat to Republican Mike Fitzpatrick in November after serving two terms in the U.S. House of Representatives.  The district is mostly in Bucks County, but it includes small pieces of Montgomery County and Northeast Philadelphia.
