They mail violation notices now, but they can save weeks by having code inspectors leave them at the door. Borough Council Vice President Paul Clemente chairs the Code Enforcement and Land Planning Committee. He says the note would explain the infraction.
“Here’s the code as it applies to that. Please comply and do so in a timely manner. Basically it gives notice that they are in violation and we expect them to come within the code.”
The borough cites people who do not comply, and a magisterial district judge sets the amount of their fine. Clemente says the borough is not trying to raise money through code enforcement, and officials would prefer to get code issues resolved without going to a judge.
