The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has accepted an application from Exelon Nuclear to run its Limerick Generating Station for another 20 years. It means the application is complete and ready to start moving through the approval process, which will include three public meetings. NRC License Renewal Division Director Brian Holian says the staff’s review of the application will be very detailed and thorough with special attention to what the company has done to manage the effects of aging. Unit One at Limerick went online in 1986 and Unit Two went online in 1990.
