Lansdale Borough Council has removed some restrictions from about $8 million that sat unused for decades in the Electric Renewal, Redemption and Replacement Fund. Councilman Dan Dunigan says it took a while to find and count the money.
“After looking at the budget we noticed it and started to investigate it, and it took a while to find its roots because it has a fairly long and tangled history going back to the 1960’s, and as a result of trying to untangle that it just took a long time to get through it all.”
The money must still be used solely for capital projects, such as building and infrastructure improvements, and he says the new 311 West Main Task Force will probably look into whether it can be used for repairs and upgrades at the former Lansdale Performing Arts Center.
