Norristown Council holds a public hearing later this month on a “Health Care Zone” proposed for the area around Montgomery Hospital and the Montgomery County Human Services Center. The hospital site will probably be demolished after the new Einstein Medical Center-Montgomery opens in about a year at the old Wood’s Golf site on Germantown Pike near Whitehall Road in East Norriton. A mix of senior citizen housing and various retail and commercial uses will probably go in there. Doctors’ offices, a medical college and a nursing school will be allowed, but substance abuse centers, detention centers, adult entertainment, check-cashing agencies and takeout beer stores will not be allowed.
