The Hatboro Residents’ Association has given Borough Council a petition with signatures from more than 1,000 people who oppose a new Wawa store.
The company wants to build it on a lot at York and Horsham Roads across from the Old Mill Inn, which was closed a few years ago because of flood damage.
Residents have several concerns including increased traffic, noise and light pollution and loitering. Although borough council has not seen formal plans, the word around town is that it will have gasoline pumps.
Another Wawa without gas pumps is located at York and Monument Roads, near the opposite end of the business district.
