Three fire companies covering Hatfield Township have reached an agreement on a two-zone coverage plan.
They currently have three zones among the Hatfield, Colmar and Hilltown companies. Under the new plan Hatfield would cover one zone and Colmar would cover the other, with Hilltown providing secondary coverage.
The change is being made to eliminate a slight delay in getting primary coverage in Montgomery County from a Bucks County company because the dispatchers in both counties have to communicate with each other. The change takes effect on January 1 if the Hatfield Township Commissioners approve it.
