“Keep Your Health Plan Act of 2013” Passes The House

The problems with the Affordable Care Act continues to be a source of frustration for potential participants, lawmakers and people who were already insured. The latest problem, aside from the website, Health.gov, is the cancellation of insurance policies. Bucks County Congressman, Mike Fitzpatrick has taken action with a proposal called “ The Keep Your Health Plan Act of 2013”, which he co-sponsored. The measure passed in the House Friday afternoon, 261 to 157. 39 Democrats voted for the Act.

“Essentially just says, the President made a promise. He’s acknowledged it and apologized that he’s having a difficult time keeping it. The promise is that if you have a policy you like you could keep it. If he can’t live up to that commitment, we’re going to help him do it.”

Fitzpatrick, a guest on WNPV's AM Edition Friday morning, says 5 million people have received termination notices from their insurance companies stating that their plan no longer fits the requirements of the Affordable Care Act. The measure now heads to the Senate, where it’s not likely to get the same reception.
