NP Teacher Wins Award

wnpv_schoolsNorth Penn High School English Teacher Ellen McKee has received a Voices of Inspiration Award for Teaching Excellence. Winners are selected for devoting time and energy beyond the job’s requirements and using new or innovative ideas in the classroom.  McKee says she is always looking for new approaches, and she never recycles last year’s lesson plans.

“I always find something that I didn’t like that I did last year, and I want a change or a new approach.  I can’t tell you exactly what I do except that I do a lot of meditating at night and try to think fresh and think if I were an eleventh grader how I could make it relate to my life, and I Always pray that an idea will pop into my mind that will be viable, and so far I’ve had ideas pop into my mind at the right time.  Sometimes it’s the last hour and as I’m driving to work it comes to me, but I guess I just kind of pray for Divine inspiration at that point.”

McKee says a number of other teachers received similar honors, thanks to the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit and Freedom Credit Union, and it really makes her feel good about what she does for a living.
