The Methacton School Board has approved a preliminary budget that calls for more than $92 million in spending and a real estate tax hike of slightly more than 5.25 percent in the new school year. Exceptions for debt service on the new Skyview Upper Elementary School (pictured here), special education and the retirement fund would allow a tax hike of that size without voter approval, and the board is seeking the exceptions, but more spending cuts are likely before it adopts a final budget in June. It could include a reduction of as many as seven professional staff and two administrative staff. More information on the budget is on the internet at www.methacton.org.
