Pennridge Budget: No Tax Hike

dollarThe Pennridge School Board is looking at a balanced budget that does not call for program cuts or a tax hike. Superintendent of Schools Robert Kish says a number of things came together.  Eleven employees are retiring, two are not being replaced because of declining elementary school enrollments, and the others are being replaced by people lower on the pay scale than the retirees.  He says another factor is a $1.3 million property tax payment from the Rockhill Mennonite Community.  It represents a settlement in a dispute over whether the property was taxable.  He says the deal has not been signed yet, and no details can be released until it is, but Pennridge is probably the only Bucks County district that is not raising taxes in the new school year.
