The Spring-Ford School Board has voted to outsource janitorial service. That means the district will save more than $1 million in the budget for the new school year and 24 janitors will be looking for work. Under a two-year contract a company known as Jani-King Will Clean Spring-Ford buildings during the afternoon and evening at a cost of just under $800,000 per year. School Board member Bernard Pettit says he has opposed hiring an outside janitorial service from the start because he believes it opens the door for other jobs to be outsourced.
