Parents Opting Out Of Blogging Teacher’s Classes

A Central Bucks East High School teacher, suspended earlier this year for a blog she wrote and posted on the internet, could face an empty classroom when she returns to teach on Tuesday, August 30. Natalie Munroe has been assigned to the same school with the same grade and the same classes, including Honors English and Debate, but parents who don’t want their children in Munroe’s classes can opt out.  So far more than 200 parents have asked to have their kids kept out of her classes.  About 28 could still be in her classes, but Superintendent of Schools Robert Laws says he believes they will get more requests from parents who do not want Munroe teaching their children.  She got national media attention after blogging about too many students being rude, lazy whiners who curse, argue for grades and complain about everything.  She also used profanity in describing students, who she did not identify, and had unkind words about administrators.
