The Central Bucks School Board is looking at a social media policy that bars teachers and other staff from calling students on personal cell phones and 20 other types of electronic communication. They include sending students text messages, shopping online from a school computer, and using a school computer to blog for anything other than educational purposes. Superintendent of Schools Robert Laws started talking about the need for a social media policy earlier this year, shortly after local and national media ran stories about CB East English teacher Natalie Munroe’s blog. In it she complained about students, other teachers and administrators saying, among other things, that too many students are rude, lazy whiners who curse, argue for grades and complain about everything.
