Bucks County Community College has unveiled Phase One of a library renovation project at the Main Campus in Newtown. Facilities completed include a tutoring center, two new classrooms and an area where students work on multimedia projects. Dean of Learning Resources Maureen McCreadie says first floor improvements (pictured here) are finished, and work has started on Phase Two, where they will add group learning areas on the second floor.
“Based on research on learning we have come to understand that students tend to learn better, deeper, if they can work and study in groups, so we created some group work spaces, some for project development and some for flexible classroom use.”
Doctor McCreadie says the college has also renovated the cafeteria to resemble a food court, and because different kinds of food are in different areas, students wait in several short lines instead of one long line.
