Three cases of whooping cough have been confirmed at Souderton Area High School.
The people diagnosed with the disease, which has the medical name of pertussis, are two students and one staff member.
School officials say all three people have started appropriate medical treatment with antibiotics, and they may return to school after five days of treatment, but they must continue taking the antibiotics until they have finished the prescribed amount. All household members and people in close contact with the pertussis patients must take preventive antibiotics.
