Two Men Charged with Murder of 2010 Pennridge Grad.

Two men are in custody in connection with the murder of Pennridge High School graduate, 21-year-old Kevin Figaniak. Wheeling Police have charged 22-year-old, Craig Peacock of Lewiston, Florida and 24-year-old, Jarrett Chandler of Winnfield, Louisiana. The two men were arrested at a campsite in Wheeling used by oil and gas workers. Both men are being held on 1-million dollars bail. Figaniak was a senior at Wheeling Jesuit University, where he played on the varsity lacrosse team and club hockey team. Figaniak and another man were attacked as they walked backed to campus just before 2AM Saturday. Figaniak suffered the worst of the assault, leaving him with severe brain injuries. Figaniak passed away early Sunday morning. A prayer service was held on the campus of Wheeling Jesuit University Saturday. Figaniak is being remembered at Pennridge High School. Joe Ferry is the Pennridge School District spokesman.

“Kevin was a great kid, very quiet and very competitive. He played lacrosse and ice hockey at Wheeling Jesuit University, as he did at Pennridge.”

Pennridge High School Principal, Dr. Thomas Creeden released a statement on the death of Kevin Figaniak

"Pennridge High School and its community are saddened and shocked by the news of the untimely and horrific death of one of our graduates, Kevin Figaniak. Kevin was an outstanding young man with a high level of energy and a very competitive nature. Kevin was a hardworking student with a love for ice hockey and lacrosse. He continued that eagerness for competition through his college years at West Virginia Wesleyan where he followed his passion for lacrosse and his educational goals. Kevin’s outlook on life was very positive. His teachers describe him as always upbeat and caring for his teammates and peers.Kevin will be sorely missed by everyone at Pennridge High School. Our condolences go out to his family and friends on the news of this terrible tragedy.
