Sherpinsky: Pension Plan Could Devastate NP School Dist.
Vince Sherpinsky, a veteran member of the North Penn School Board, is seeking another term on the board. Sherpinsky says, there’s still a lot of work to be done, particularly with the school district’s pension plan. He says, 29 cents of every dollar the district pays an employee goes to the plan without help from Harrisburg.
“It’s a very tough issue for us to address, because Harrisburg is not giving us a choice, they’re just mailing us the bill. As a negotiator for the district in representing the taxpayers of North Penn, we have two different missions at the table. We have the union’s mission, which is to get higher salaries, better benefits and easier working conditions for their members and then there’s the board’s side, where we’re tying to negotiate a fair contract that we can afford and at the same time still accomplish our mission.”
Sherpinsky has been president of the North Penn School Board for the last seven years. Sherpinsky, a guest on the AM Edition Wednesday morning, is running on the Republican ticket with Josie Charnock, Tim Kerr, and frank O’Donnell.
