Dock Wins State Baseball Title

wnpv_sportsAlex Summers lined a shot off of Serra Catholic third baseman Ken Tomco into left field with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning scoring Drew Mininger and Brandon Reichert to give Christopher Dock a 4-3 win and their third state championship in school history.
Dock trailed 3-2 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh before Mininger singled and Reichert was hit by a pitch. An intentional walk to Ryan Seiz set up the dramatic finish.
Summers picked up the win in relief of starter Reichert while Oliver Griman suffered the loss in relief of brother Alane.
It was Serra Catholics second straight loss in the championship game. Last season the Eagles lost in the title game to Camp Hill 7-3. Dock finishes the season 20-3 while Serra Catholic closes at 24-2.
In the Quad A softball state title game, CB South loss to Mt. Lebanon, 1-0.
