Wissahickon High School will honor one of their own Friday night, former field hockey standout Katie O'Donnell.
O'Donnell, a 2007 graduate, excelled in field hockey where as a four-year starter she was named to the all-state team three times. Continuing her career at Maryland, she became the most decorated player in team history where she was four times the ACC Offensive Player of the Year along with being named the National Player of the Year. She also help lead the Terrapin's to two National Championships. In October of 2010, she was recognized as the Women's Sports Foundation's Sportswomen of the Year.
O'Donnell will be saluted in between the Wissahickon-Upper Dublin girls and boys varsity basketball game. Her jersey will be retired along with a banner raised in her honor.
