Penn State Advances

Penn_StateThe Lady Lions held off a pesky Dayton Flyers team to advance to the second round of the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, 75-66. It was the first Penn State tournament win since the 2003-2004 season. Penn State saw a twelve point half-time lead disintegrate to two with just over two minutes to play. But the Lady Lions closed out on a 10-3 run to ice the victory. Sophomore Alex Bentley led the way with 25 points in 38 minutes of play. Sophomore teammate Mia Nickson record a double-double by scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Freshman Maggie Lucas (Germantown Academy) had 12 points and six rebounds while Renee Womack (Lansdale / Methacton) had four points in 14 minutes of action. The Lady Lions are now 9-0 all-time at home in the post season tournament. The sixth seeded Lady Lions now take on third seeded DePaul on Monday night from the Bryce Jordan Center. WNPV radio coverage begins at 7pm.
