Jeff Gordon held off Jimmie Johnson in Atlanta today to win the Advocare 500. Johnson charged hard down the stretch, but Gordon would not give in any room as he won his third race of the year. The race, originally scheduled for Sunday, was once again delayed by rain. There were thirty-nine lead changes during the afternoon. Tony Stewart, last year's winner, finished third. Kurt Busch finished fourth and Carl Edward rounds out the top five. Johnson maintains the overall point lead ahead of Kyle Busch by twenty one points.
