North Penn Title Game On Radio

Baseball championship games and WNPV go hand in hand.

For the the sixth time in the last dozen years, AM 1440 WNPV will be live tonight from State College when the North Penn Knights go for their second state title in five years. In 2009, from Altoona, the Knights upended Parkland 3-1 to capture their first ever title. Tonight, North Penn will take on District Three champion Central Dauphin in their quest for number two. The Falcons (22-5) are lead by catcher Deon Stafford (.425 ave) and shortstop Kaylor Kalina. (.366 ave) This is Lower Dauphins first ever state title game. The Knights (17-10) under second year skipper Kevin Manero, have gotten key contributions from right-fielder Brady West and catcher Eddie Posavec. North Penn picked the right time to get hot in state tournament play. They had dropped their final two district playoff games to Pennridge and CR North before getting on a roll that saw them beat Pennridge in the state semi's after losing the three previous times. In an interesting note, both teams will be without their top pitchers. Lower Dauphin's Blair Lewis (8-1 / 1.91 ERA) and North Penn Brian Maher (9-1) both have pitched their allowed inning by rule for the week. Radio coverage is scheduled to begin fifteen minutes before the first pitch which is 6pm. But there is a full slate of game ahead of this one that may affect the start time. Kyle Berger and Daryle Dobos have the call of the game that can also be heard right here on the web at wnpv1440.com. And this note, Upper Moreland will take on West York at 1pm for the triple A title.
