Roll And Stroll
The 19th Annual Roll and Stroll, where people hike and bike for the Indian Creek Foundation, took place Saturday in Souderton and surrounding communities. Foundation Executive Director Dave Crosson says proceeds from registration fees and sponsorships benefit people with developmental disabilities and autism disorders, and they focus largely on job training.
“What we try to do is help people reach their fullest potential with work. Many of our folks work right in the community with a job coach that supports them. Others aren’t quite able to get to that level, but we have other work activities for them to meet their needs.”
Karen Nolan of Hatfield rode her bike 40 miles to support the foundation. She works with developmentally disabled children for the North Penn School District.
“Even though they have disabilities they are just so special and they have so much to offer, and you can look past their disability and see who they really are. They’re just wonderful kids who grow up to be wonderful adults, and they need jobs.”
Nolan says they are very special kids with a lot of love.
