Good Old Summertime
“The MGA was said to be the first MG that could go over 100 miles an hour. I’ve never gone 100 miles an hour with mine, and I won’t either. It’s 54 years old and I’ve had it 44 years. It and I are very good friends, and I don’t want to take a chance on blowing it apart.”
Wesner says the MG’S from the 1950’s won a lot of races, but he just drives it for fun. Michael Adams of the Greater Norristown Art League was there doing Plein Air Art, which is Pennsylvania German for outdoor scenes painted in the outdoors. He says he uses water colors.
“Water color is a transparent painting medium. It’s a pigment that’s washed down with water thinned out and applied directly to the painting. In this case in Plein Art it’s a finished painting. I’m not doing a lot of under painting that I might do in a more finished water color. It’s kind of direct, wet and sloppy, so wherever the paint blends it’s part of the effect that makes Plein Air art so appealing.”
Adams says Plein Air Art painting is not for the faint of heart. He nearly got a heat stroke when he was out painting on a hot day earlier this summer.
