Haunted Hayride Coming Next Week

HalloweenThe Tylersport Volunteer Fire Company’s 18th Annual Haunted Hayride starts next week. Skit Coordinator Kyle Matz says they have 13 scary skits along a course of about a mile, and their volunteer actors put a lot of time and effort into the show.

“We give them our best and try to give them the most bang for the buck.  Tickets are only $10, and for children under the age of 5 it’s free.”

He says they use flat hay wagons pulled behind several kinds of tractors.

“We run them on Farmalls, John Deeres, all owned by people that run with the fire company, and they’re antiques or moderns.  I think we run 8 tractors and wagons simultaneously.  We time them out.  I think we have about 5 to 7 minutes in between each wagon.”

Matz says they sell hamburgers and soup, and they give everyone getting off the hay wagon a complementary cup of hot cider and a marshmallow to roast over a wood fire.  The Haunted Hayride is held on Friday and Saturday, October 22 and 23, and again the following Friday and Saturday, October 29 and 30, on trails behind the Tylersport Fire Station on Ridge Road near Allentown Road.  Hours are 7:00 to 10:00pm.  All proceeds benefit the volunteer fire company.
