The Towamencin Volunteer Fire Company held its Fall Craft Sale and Shredder Event Saturday at the main fire station on Bustard Road. Brian Finnemeyer was in the parking lot operating a mobile paper shredding truck from Richter Office Supply in Souderton. He says people like it because it’s more secure than curbside recycling.
“We will let them stand here and see it being shredded. Many people are concerned about identity theft, so when they come they want to know that it’s being done right away, and so that’s the advantage in coming to a shredding event. They can see it being done, and we take it to a recycler in Montgomeryville where it gets off-loaded and taken to the paper mills.”
Finnemeyer says people are assured that no one is looking through the bank statements and other personal documents they throw away or recycle when they can watch them being shredded.
