A fundraiser to pay for renovating the rundown Souderton Playground is coming up in June. Souderton Mennonite Church Pastor Jerry Clemmer says it’s set for Saturday, June 23, the same day as the borough’s 125th Anniversary Parade.

“We’re going to have a block party at the corner of Chestnut and Wile where the playground is, and it needs a fresh face, it needs new equipment, and we’ve set a goal of raising $65,000.  We’re about halfway there, so we’re looking for a great turnout.  We have a lot of good things planned, a lot of kids activities, so we want families to come out, and we still need community sponsors and vendors.”

Pastor Clemmer says the parade has been re-routed to go right past the playground so more people will see it, and the block party runs from 11:00am until 5:00pm with food and family fun.  He says they plan to add several amenities to make the playground more accessible to both children and adults with disabilities.
