Montco Finances Continue On the Mend

The Montgomery County Commissioners say their finances continue to move in the right direction.   They received a report Thursday that projects a $540,000 dollar operating surplus at the end of this year.   There were some cautionary notes too though.   Chief Financial Officer Uri Monson said the cost of operating the emergency 911 system is $2,800,000 over budget because the surcharge on telephone service that is supposed to provide the funding is no longer enough.   Monson also told the commissioners he expects the county to have more than $41,000,000 in the bank at the end of this year after it sells the Human Services Center in Norristown and the nursing care facility Parkhouse in Upper Providence.
