Residents in Perkasie Borough can hold on to more of their income after Perkasie Borough Council passes its 2014 budget with no tax increase. Perkasie also has a budget slush fund of more than 176-thousand dollars. Council President, Jim Purcell is also eyeing the electric rate with the possibility of trying to lowering what residents pay for the utility per month. Raises were also worked in to the preliminary budget with administrators getting a 2 percent increase, while public works and electric company workers with representation will see pay increases of 3.5 and 3.75 percent. Perkasie Borough will also offer employees who choose not to take part in the family insurance plan, a flat rate of 25-hundred dollars. Employees who are single would receive 1,000. Perkasie Borough will vote on the budget during its December 16th meeting.
