Cardiologist: Recent Incident in NHL Serves as Reminder

Sellersville cardiologist, Doctor Todd Aldefer says an incident this week in the NHL makes an important point.

Dallas Star player, Rich Peverley passed out on the bench, due to an irregular heartbeat.

“It’s a discussion point that is a good one to have at this time of the year with spring sports season coming around and that is the systematic athlete. An athlete that has chest pain or shortness of breath or palpitations, those things always need to be evaluated by a doctor.

Student athletes in Pennsylvania now have to be screened for heart problems prior to being cleared to take part in sports.
