It’s official. The Montgomery County Salary Board Thursday approved the hiring of Former Norristown police Chief Russell Bono as sheriff.
He’ll earn about $79,000 in his new position. Bono was sworn-in last week and with this final action by the county salary board, he is hitting the ground running:
“My plan is to do a quick assessment of the department. I’ve already met with all of the command staff to see what their needs and wants are and identify potential problems.”
Bono says that like his predecessor Former Sheriff Eileen Behr, he will keep the heat on parents who are behind on their child support payments.
