Tax season brings out scammers and this season appears to be worse than previous years, according to Mike Bannon, Director of Consumer Affairs for Bucks County.
“We’ve been getting calls from people about scammers, demanding money and saying they’re from the I.R.S. Some of the calls are threatening and abusive. The I.R.S. will never call your home and ask you to send them money. The I.R.S. would communicate through an official letter. They would never ask a taxpayer to send money to them through money order or paypal or any other untraceable method.”
Bannon, a guest on the AM Edition Tuesday morning, urges anyone who receives a call and is concerned, contact I.R.S. at 1-800-366-4484 or call the Bucks County Department of Consumer Affairs at 215-348-6060
