Former Lansdale Police Chief: “Dedicated and Caring”

He was a revered member of the Lansdale Borough Police Department and former Police Chief. Today, Lansdale mourns the loss and celebrates the life of former Police Chief, Wallace Hendricks.

Affectionately known as Wally to his colleagues and friends, Hendricks joined the Lansdale P.D. in 1953 and in just 8 years became the top cop in Lansdale, holding the position of police chief until calling it a career in 1980. Hendricks was a patrolman from 1953 until 1958 and then moved to the rank of Sergeant before becoming Chief in 1961. Hendricks was instrumental in moving the department to its current location at 35 Vine Street from a three story home, converted to a police station.  Former Mayor Hugh Cullen referred to Hendricks as a dedicated and caring person. Hendricks was 87. Arraignments for his services have not yet been released.
