It’s the time of year when contractors are seeking work, but according to Mike Bannon, Director of Bucks County Consumer Affairs, gypsy contractors are out and about doing poor work, collecting some money and leaving the job behind.
Bannon says, it appears to be an organized effort.
“If you let them up on the roof, in some cases, we think they say they took a picture of your chimney and how it needs work. In reality, it’s a picture of another chimney. They try to tell you there is something wrong with your home to separate you from your money.”
Bannon says, his office has received several calls about home improvement contractors knocking on doors, looking to make repairs. Bannon, a guest on the AM Edition Tuesday morning says, it’s a red flag when someone knocks on your door offering to do work on your home. Bannon says, his office has received numerous calls about incidents of people knocking on door to solicit work.
