The North Penn Water Authority is in the process of flushing water lines by way its 35-hundred fire hydrants.
Executive Director, Tony Bellitto, says the flushing will be carried out over a period of 7 weeks.
“The internal mechanisms of those hydrants has to be inspected and lubricated and exercised annually so we insure the hydrants are operating properly when they are needed for a fire.”
North Penn Water Authority customers may see some discoloration, but running cold water for a short period of time should clear it away. Crews will work day and nighttime hours on the flushing project. Belitto, a guest on the AM Edition Thursday morning, says it’s routine maintenance that’s carried out by the North Penn Water Authority every spring.
