The Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown will celebrate 90 years in July. It was a difficult winter for the Elmwood Park Zoo, but things are getting better.
Executive Director of the zoo, Al Zone, says it’s started in 1924.
“A local pharmacist in Norristown, Lou Dobbs had donated land to the zoo, which was great. It started out as a an animal preserve with a dozen white tail deer and it grew to some monkeys and an eagles exhibit. Now the eagle exhibit is ranked as the largest open air bald eagle exhibit in North America.”
Zone was a guest on the WNPV Program, The Bucks Mont Business Journal Monday morning. The Elmwood Park Zoo has more than 300,000 visitors every year.
