Heavy rain before the weekend and over the last several weeks has created a breeding ground for mosquitoes, setting up the potential for cases of West Nile Virus.
Pam Lawn is the Director of Environmental Field Services for Montgomery County.
“We just encourage people to keep their yards free of standing water. Recycle bins and gutters. Even maintaining pools is important, because mosquitoes will breed in small or large amounts of water.”
Symptoms of West Nile Virus include, fever, aches and pains. Lawn says, Field Services is setting traps for mosquitoes to have them tested at the state lab to see if any are carrying the virus.
