Inclement weather this past winter left many families unprepared when power was lost for several days.
The hurricane season can present the same problems when power is cut or rising waters force residents to leave their homes. Laura Howe is with the American Red Cross. Howe advises families to develop an emergency plan before a storm hits.
“Make sure you have things gathered, like important papers, have extra cash on hand and any extra medicines you may need.”
Howe, a guest on WNPV’s AM Edition Thursday morning, urges people to have an emergency kit with batteries and flashlights.
