Towamencin officials are making safety improvements at a dangerous intersection in the township.
Motorists trying to make a left from Reinert Road onto Allentown Road are challenged by poor sight distance and they often pull out in front of cars that are coming down a hill. Township Manager Rob Ford says some short term measures could improve the safety of the intersection:
“What the board directed is first of all the Codes Dept. go out and check if some vegetation can be cut back on the private property there to help improve that sight distance and also to contact our traffic engineer to look at possibly other improvements while working with PennDot since Allentown Road is a state road.
Township officials say there have been 18 accidents at the intersection in the past five years.
