Two friends who went on a robbery spree in Bucks and Montgomery Counties are now bunking at a state prison. Law enforcement officials say 39-year-old Phil Prokop of North Wales and 23-year-old Ryan Wiley of Doylestown stole more than one-and-a-half million dollars worth of loot during burglaries at homes and businesses. Wiley will spend at least five years behind bars while Prokop drew a sentence of no less than three years in jail.
The snow expected on Saturday has prompted the following weather related cancellations and announcements:
1) Encore Experiences in Harleysville has cancelled Noontime Bingo for Saturday.
2) The Santa Visit at Moyer Indoor/Outdoor has been postponed until next Saturday (December 21st) between 9 AM and 1 PM.
3) Hilltown Township and Silverdale Borough in Bucks County have declared snow emergencies through Noon on Sunday, December 15th.
4) Both performances of the live Nativity scheduled this evening at Grace Mennonite Church in Lansdale have been cancelled.
Montgomery County officials have approved a budget for next year. The spending plan totals almost 600-million dollars across all funds and does not call for a property tax increase. It does include a 1.5% pay raise for all county employees not covered by a union contract. County officials also say they will not need to take out a tax revenue anticipation note to meet payroll during the first part of 2014.
Archbishop Wood is the state AAA champ. The Vikings beat Bishop McDevitt of Harrisburg 22 - 10 Friday night. They were scoreless and behind by 3 points at halftime but the Vikings came out of the locker room and controled the football for the last 24 minutes of the game. This is the second state championship for Archbishop Wood in the past three years.
