Montco. Prison Guards To Vote On Union Representation

There’s been conflicting reports of have how life is for corrections officers at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. Some recent comments from officers suggest the facility is in dire need of repairs and that staffing levels need to be boosted. Others call those allegations untrue and not representative of all correctional officers. The matter has sparked a move to potentially bring in a union for the correction officers. Correctional officers will vote on December 16th for or against representation. Local 384 in Norristown is the union that would represent officers following the vote.

over-the-top consumerism. But still, millions of shoppers like the idea of being able to get a jump on Black Friday. Last night, stores were open on Thanksgiving Day, many for the first time, but it’s nothing new to Walmart

“We’ve open on Thanksgiving Day since 1988. We serve a lot of food. We are the country’s largest grocer. We go from a pretty busy food day to a pretty busy merchandise day. We had our events Thursday night at 6pm and 8pm and they were fantastic.”

That’s Dave Tovar, V.P. of Communications for Walmart. Tovar says, Walmat guaranteed 21 items, selling over two million television sets, 1.4 million tablets and 1.9 million dolls. Tovar was a guest on the AM Edition Friday morning with Darryl Berger. 

Property Tax Rebates Available To P.A. Residents

Pennsylvania residents who qualify can receive property tax rebates.

“Residents who qualify should be age 65 or older, widows or widowers, age 50-years and older and residents with disabilities, age 18 and older.”

Maia Warren is with the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. Warren says, some residents can receive rebates checks of more than 900 dollars. For more information, you can call the Pa. Department of Revenue at 1-888-222-9190 between 7:30 am and 5pm Monday through Friday or visit the Revenue Department’s website at www.revenue.state.pa.us. The deadline to apply is December 31st.

No Tax Increase For Residents in Borough of North Wales

The proposed 2014 budget for the Borough of North Wales offers some welcome news for residents, no tax increase. The Borough has a little less than 1.6 million dollars in the general fund. The budget numbers are in line with the 2013 figures, according to Borough of North Wales manager, Nate Dysard. Health insurance has increased for the Borough, but the hike will not impact taxes
