Local Chamber of Commerce Develops “Perk Up” Program

Workforce development efforts in Upper Montgomery County have been given a thumbs up from the Secretary of the State Depart. of Community and Economic Development. Alan Walker met with representatives of the Upper Perkiomen Chamber of Commerce Thursday in East Greenville.

“You go in to a lot of communities and you meet people who have a passion for their community and they want their community to have a future and that’s what I got out of this group today. They love their community, they love their region, but they know they have to do some things if the region’s going to have a future.”

The Chamber is spearheading a regional development program called “Perk Up.” One of its goals is to have grads from the local high school be more prepared to take on available jobs at manufacturing companies in the region.
