The Montgomery County Health Department says a stray cat found last week in Whitpain Township has tested positive for rabies.
It was found in the 400 block of Norwick Place. Health department investigators found that several neighborhood residents who fed and cared for the cat may have been exposed to the disease, along with a few pets. Anyone who may have come in contact with the cat should call the health department. Other animals testing positive for rabies this year include raccoons in West Pottsgrove Township and Ambler Borough and a skunk in Upper Merion Township. The health department reminds residents not to befriend any wild or stray animals, especially in areas where they have tested positive for rabies.
