The Montgomery County Health Department says influenza, commonly known as the flu, has claimed the lives of one child and two adults in the county this winter. The victims are a two-year-old Lower Merion boy, a 32-year-old Upper Merion woman and a 24-year-old Norristown man. The Health Department Director, Doctor Joseph DiMino, says a flu shot is the best way to prevent infection, and it’s not too late to get one for free at county clinics. Other preventive measures include washing your hands, covering your mouth when coughing or sneezing and staying at home if you are sick. Flu symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat and many times extreme fatigue.
