The Nuclear Regulatory Commission says Exelon Nuclear must re-assess the danger of earthquake damage at its Limerick Generating Station. The NRC thought it was relatively free of risk until last august when a Virginia earthquake was felt in the area.  The two reactors at limerick must be re-assessed using a new risk model developed for that purpose.

In a related matter, the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board will hear arguments later this month on a request for a hearing on Limerick’s license renewal application.  The meeting takes place Tuesday, February 21, at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown.
