Montco Officials Oppose State Budget Cuts

The red flags are going up at the Montgomery County Courthouse as state lawmakers close in on the June 30th deadline for them to approve a budget.   Commissioners Josh Shapiro and Leslie Richards held a news conference Thursday with State Senator Daylin Leach and State Representative Madeline Dean to get the word out about the impact of proposed budget cuts.   Shapiro says slashing funding for human services by 20% doesn't make any sense since the state mandates that the county provide those services for its residents.   Commissioner Bruce Castor was not at the press conference but Shapiro says he is on board in opposing the proposed state budget cuts.
