Nuke Plant Operator Tests Positive For Alcohol
Federal law requires nuclear power plant operators to be licensed and sober.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission says Roger Devlin flunked a urine test in July. The tests are conducted randomly under the NRC’s “Fitness for Duty” requirements.
It says he was not the sole operator on duty, he did not consume the alcohol on site, and a review of the day’s activities turned up no errors, but the violation could have caused moderate safety or security consequences.
