Chem-Fab Site Cleanup Planned

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency plans to dig up and replace 3,600 cubic yards of soil at an old Bucks County industrial site that has been contaminated for decades.

The site on Broad Street in Doylestown was once home to Chem-Fab, a company that did electroplating and metal etching in the 1960’s and 70’s.

The soil is contaminated with the now-banned solvent TCE and other chemicals.

The EPA estimates the cleanup cost at $2.25 million, but it has not set a starting date because the money is not available.  Borough officials are asking Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick to see if he can help shake the money loose.
