Programmable Thermostat Saves Money

The Operations Manager for the Mechanical Group at Moyer Indoor-Outdoor in Souderton, John Haley, says a homeowner can save money on winter heat with a programmable thermostat because it automatically changes the settings for different times of the day.

“You can install a programmable thermostat that will take it down a few degrees at night, and an hour before you wake up it will take it back up, and during the night you’re going to save some money.  On average if you use a programmable thermostat during the course of a year you can save $150 to $200 on your utilities.”

Whether you’re heating in the winter or air conditioning in the summer, Haley says one of the most important things to do is to change the filter because a dirty filter makes the system work harder and use more energy, and it can also cause damage leading to costly repairs.
